Marilyn Holmes, MS, RD, LDN
ManagerMarilyn has over 30 years of experience in Population Health Management. Her diverse professional background includes experience in: hospitals, an educational institution, nursing homes, and the public health sector at local, regional and state levels. In 1997, Marilyn assumed the role of Manager for the Faculty and Staff Wellness and Fitness program. She is the author/coauthor of publications on lead poisoning in young children and AIDS. She has received numerous honors and awards at national, state and regional levels, including: the Excellence in Practice Award for Wellness from the American Dietetic Association’s Practice Group, Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists (SCAN).

Lori Rolando, MD, MPH
Medical DirectorDr. Rolando earned her MD Degree from Southern Illinois University. She completed her Occupational Medicine residency, as well as her MPH, at Mount Sinai in New York City. She is Board Certified in Occupational Medicine and is certified as a Medical Review Officer. Dr. Rolando also has a surgical background, with board certifications in general and vascular surgery. She oversees the Occupational Health Clinic's OSHA medical surveillance programs and serves on multiple institutional committees to help ensure that the faculty and staff of Vanderbilt are healthy and safe.

Stacey Kendrick, MS
Coordinator of Health PromotionStacey earned her Master's Degree in Health Promotion from UNC-Charlotte and her undergraduate degree from The Rochester Institute of Technology. She is a Certified Personal Trainer and has received special training in wellness coaching and motivational interviewing. Stacey's background includes experience at the YMCA, the Dayani Center, and as a Health Educator for Health Plus. Her responsibilities include directing marketing and communications efforts, editing the Connection newsletter, and creating/delivering health education programming for Health Plus and the other areas of Faculty/Staff Health and Wellness.

Kimberly Tromatore, MPH
Health EducatorKimberly earned a Master's of Public Health Degree at U.T.-Knoxville. She is the Health Educator for promotions and executes numerous events: "Know Your Numbers", "Summer Programming", the "Life Phase" series, "Tailgate", and "Start!" Kimberly is also responsible for designing health education materials, marketing "Go for the Gold", delivering health education presentations, and implementing campus-wide "Go for the Gold" help sessions. She is a Co-Chair of the Farm to Hospital Committee, and a preceptor for the Dietetic Internship program, where she provides guidance and mentoring to interns as they rotate through Health Plus.

Lori Cowan, ACE
Group Fitness CoordinatorLori has over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry. Before coming to Health Plus, she managed the employee fitness center at Aerostructures Corporation. Lori's primary responsibility is the group fitness program. She hires the instructors and plans the group fitness schedule. She also designs exercise programs for members and coordinates incentive programs encouraging members to continue workout routines and to crosstrain.

Brad Awalt, MS, ACSM
Assistant ManagerBrad earned a Master's Degree in Exercise Science from Middle Tennessee State University after receiving an undergraduate degree from Belmont University. He is an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Health/Fitness Instructor. Brad oversees the daily operations of the Health Plus facility and supervises fitness staff. He is responsible for the design and implementation of exercise options for Vanderbilt faculty & staff, such as fitness prescriptions, fitness evaluations and the "Start!" program. Brad also serves as technology manager for Health Plus and is responsible for the Wellness Actions Log as part of the "Go for the Gold" health incentives program.

Ruth Hagstrom, MD, MPH
Staff PhysicianDr. Ruth Hagstrom received an M.D. degree from Vanderbilt and an MPH from Johns Hopkins. She has held a variety of positions, all devoted to public health and preventive medicine. Dr. Hagstrom has worked with the Department of Preventive Medicine at Vanderbilt and Meharry Medical College, and was the Medical Director of the Bureau of Health Services at the Tennessee Department of Health. She says "I am enjoying the opportunity to make a real difference in the life and health of Vanderbilt faculty and staff.” Dr. Hagstrom has two grown children.

Lisa Connor, RN, BSN
Case ManagerLisa has worked as a nurse for over 30 years. She received an AA degree from Freed-Hardeman University and earned her BS in Nursing from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Her professional background includes experience in critical care, home health, and diabetes education. At Health Plus, Lisa coordinates the Healthy Steps program and Babies & You programs. She also assists Vanderbilt faculty and staff in understanding their annual Health Risk Assessment. Lisa has received special training in wellness coaching and motivational interviewing.

Madeline Garr, MA
Health EducatorMadeline is trained in both Wellness Coaching and Motivational Interviewing and has been an educator for over 36 years. She works with Faculty/Staff who want to set wellness goals and offers them encouragement, support and information. She also provides information to interested persons on all topics of health and wellness, and works with the Health Plus team to encourage a culture of wellness at Vanderbilt. Madeline coordinates the Pressure Relief Network, which provides informative classes about controlling high blood pressure.

Glenda Swiney, BS, ACSM, ACE
Fitness AssociateGlenda earned her B.S. Degree in Exercise Science from MTSU. She is a Certified Personal Trainer by the American College of Sports Medicine and a Certified Group Fitness Instructor by the American Council on Exercise. Glenda administers fitness evaluations and designs exercise programs for members. She also promotes Health and Wellness Programs, helping to keep members motivated.
